Today's politicians have the power to bilk big money from just about any
source and from anyone. Money buys power and votes and there are plenty
willing to give and receive.
The politicians have played the game so long that they consider it
business as usual. They perhaps even convince themselves that there really is
nothing wrong. Oklahoma's Governor Frank Keating, and the quarter million
dollar albatross that millionaire Jack Dreyfus hung around his willing neck,
is a prime example.
Recently a raucous squeal heard from coast to coast came boiling from the
left leaning national news media. Their wound was from the 2000 Presidential
election. The embittered dimpled chad counters are still sore about this
painful loss in an election they couldn't sway in their favor.
To add to the pain felt by the left, they had gathered in the top four
states that received the most federal dollars in the entire nation and still
lost. The defeated were screaming "Don't let the Republicans buy this
election," when in fact, they were trying to buy it themselves with our
federal tax dollars! For example, in 1999 the government spent 5.24 BILLION
dollars for Public Housing and Community development in California! In second
place was New York with 3.2 BILLION dollars. Showing at number three was
Massachusetts with 1.1 BILLION dollars. Pennsylvania, receiving 1 BILLION
dollars, took the fourth spot. Is it any surprise that these top four went to
the leftist Al Gore? Oklahoma, which went strongly for George Bush, came in
at a measly 90.5 MILLION dollars.
The 2000 Presidential election has been construed as a mess. Both
political parties exposed themselves as combative, and ready to spill
political blood. But, the most significant exposure was that of the huge mass
news media. The ongoing love affair by liberal (socialist) reporters may
have sounded a wake up call. Perhaps they cried wolf far too often and much
to loud. Red Dan Rather, Sullen Tom Brokaw and Canadian cousin Peter
Jennings all but wept on screen at the defeat of their obvious choice. They
were at a loss for words when they had to reverse their projections in
Florida.
Today's politician will do anything, say anything, just to make you think
they are anything but what they actually are. It's the same old story since
the era of prohibition. Politicians, Power, Money, Yellow journalism and a
Media that feeds on anything except what would help our country.
