Book About the End of the USA

While attending the 2015 convention of the Oklahoma Republican Party as a delegate from Tulsa County it happened to be my pleasure to notice a display table occupied by Mr. Richard Engle of metro Oklahoma City who is considered by me to be a friend and advisor in matters of political organizations.

We first met about nine years ago at a meeting of a chapter there of the Oklahoma Republican Assembly which featured as speaker Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly, founder of the Eagle Forum. At the time Richard was President of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies. The result of that meeting and her speech was the establishment of the Tulsa Area Republican Assembly chapter, which honored me as first president.

Richard has for a number of years been a regular column contributor to the Oklahoma Constitution which is a quarterly conservative newspaper published in Oklahoma City. His table was announcing his new book titled The Last American President. It is in novel format and carries the subtitle of "A story of political intrigue, romance, and betrayal set against the back-drop of the dissolution of the United States of America." He gave me a copy requesting that I read it and write my assessment of it, hopefully as one of my columns. Even with the limited time available to me for reading, it was finished in about six days of thirty to forty-five minutes at a time to read and digest.

It was, for me, an interesting and fast reading book. So much so that more time than planned was usually given to it, since the story is rather fast moving and quite interesting. In a way, the end is somewhat depressing, especially to one who reveres the Constitution and make-up of the USA and its history. In his "Afterword" he states that he feels it inevitable that the USA will ultimately disunite and split into several smaller "nation-states," but in a peaceful dissolution. Of particular interest to me was the preposition that the "Republic of Texas was revived to include Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico and Nebraska" while the "Montana Confederacy" included Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas with the capital located in Denver.

The story is rather fast moving and very interesting to read. It gives some insight into the current type of behind the scenes goings on that seems to be prevalent in politics, which as National President of the NFRA Richard has seen first hand and sought to prevent just what is described in the book. We on the outside, particularly those who rely on the national news outlets, far too seldom are privileged to get even a hint of what goes on. It impressed me with the details covered and described about what is even done behind the back of Governors and the President by those with their own agenda. Those agendas include total outsiders who wish to bring down the USA as well as those, such as much of the federal and state bureaucracies bent on personal financial or power gain.

This book gives the reader who values the GOD given rights and freedoms intended to be guaranteed by the US Constitution, which each and EVERY office holder at all levels has sworn to uphold and support, much food for thought. In my case it prompted an increased desire to do everything legally and morally within my power to change the prevalent attitudes of either greed, carelessness, treason, or just laziness so as to, if possible, render Richard's gloomy prediction not forthcoming.

Such a change may not happen in my lifetime, but my concern is for the well- being of my children, grandchildren, and now five great-grandchildren who are following me. The same feeling is for those of my many friends, relatives, and acquaintances and theirs. It behooves us to exert every effort to bring about a change totally unlike that envisioned by PRESBO in his campaigns to return this great experiment in a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC form of government to the principles on which it was founded almost 239 years ago by the Declaration of Independence.

If we return to GOD and truly follow him and his Christ, Jesus, with truth and goodness, we should be able to bring back our former glory going forth "In GOD We Trust, since 1776."
